Dear Silver Sage,
What is the difference between a statement of fact and a Judgment, and how can I reliably identify Judgments within myself?
Am I a Judgy Judge?
Dear JJ,
Great Question. Only you can know for sure.
A statement of fact cites experience that is both objective and true in the moment.
Statement: I’m irritated. I can’t get a straight answer to a very simple, very specific question. It is frustrating and enraging. I do not like how this feels. This is a Lesson. I have a Choice. I can be irritated or I can be productive. How do I want to use my energy?
A Judgment is a Refusal or Rejection that Reduces, Negates, Limits, Diminishes or Demeans both the object of Judgment and the Judge.
Judgment: Moron! Idiot! Dumbass! What’s wrong with you?
How do those words Feel when you say them? What energies are present?
See the difference?
Judgments are always about The Judge. The Question is: How is this Judgment about Me? Where does it come from? Is it true? Does it Feel Good? Do I like it? If not, what am I willing to do about it?
